Patient of the Week: Javelina

This juvenile javelina was spotted in Marana after unfortunately getting hit by a car. After citizens notified Tucson Wildlife Center about the situation, a rescue team was sent out to sedate, capture, and bring her to the hospital for examination. After a successful rescue, this patient was presented with head trauma, bruises, abrasions, and soft tissue wounds. In rehab, this javelina has had her wounds cleaned frequently and closely monitored for any further trauma. As of now, this patient has been improving spectacularly as she is defensive, vocal, and lively enough to be released. We’re excited for the coming future where she gets released back into the wild looking good as new!
