Sweetwater Wetlands Controlled Burn, yesterday, October 18.
Tucson Wildlife Center has been at the Sweetwater Wetlands controlled burns for three years now, helping with any wildlife who may be in need of medical treatment, and rehabilitation.
Thank you to the citizens of Tucson for contacting us and for caring for our wildlife and to the City of Tucson for inviting us in. Each year we learn and work together to make these burns safer for wildlife.
Agua Caliente Fire, 2022
This was one of the most recent fires that TWC went to assist on and stay to the end.
Aspen Fire 2003
Our first experience with fire was in 2003 when the entire Catalina Mountains were ablaze for a month. TWC followed the Hot Shot Firemen crews every day for a month to assist them when wildlife was found injured. It was a harrowing experience but rewarding to know we helped the animals that the forest service, firemen, and citizens cared about the wildlife effected.
TWC’s teams are always at the ready to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife whenever needed 24/7.
