This young Chihuahuan Raven was found on the side of the I-10 freeway near Portal, AZ presumably hit by a car. The raven was grounded and in serious condition with leg paralysis and shock, when it arrived at Tucson Wildlife Center. During treatment and rehabilitation, he struggled to get his legs and feet working again. After a mere four weeks of treatment and physical therapy he is standing, walking, running, and flying again. He is now strong enough to be released back to his home territory, hopefully, today!
Fun fact: Chihuahuan Ravens are smaller than Common Ravens and have white neck feathers hidden under their black plumage, unlike the gray base of a Common Raven.
