Patient of the Week: Sonoran Opossum

Coming all the way from Nogales, AZ, this Sonoran opossum was found alone along the US side of the border. After being brought to Tucson Wildlife Center, this patient was treated for severe dehydration and flea infestation. Over the time spent in rehab, this male opossum has improved exponentially as he’s gotten better and grown up here at TWC. Opossums are the only marsupial in all of North America and related to animals such as koalas, kangaroos, and wombats. As we’re getting ready to release this patient very soon, the comparison of his appearance then and now is amazing to see. We can’t wait to see him officially released back to the wild!
