Patient of the Week: Red-tailed Hawk

This hawk has been through a whole lot to get to Tucson Wildlife Center. He was found near the Fantasy Island bike trail on the east side of Tucson unable to fly. Upon presentation to TWC staff, they found the patient had a hemorrhage of the right eye and a wound that went completely through the right wing. When x-rays were taken, multiple gunshot pellets were found in the bird. But none were found to be the main cause of injury as the cause of injury is still unknown. After all this bird went through, our staff were able to help with both injuries as this hawk is in rehab healing and getting better. While there is still a long road ahead, we are all hoping for a full recovery.
