Gopher Snake
This Gopher Snake was recently found on the road with a piece of plastic jug tightly stuck around her body. The constriction caused a wound that required immediate attention. Thanks to the quick action of a concerned citizen and our dedicated wildlife care team, the plastic was safely removed, and treatment began.
During a recent check-up, our team cleaned the wound and changed the bandage to support healing. They also took the opportunity to measure the snake and used a Doppler Flow Detector to assess blood flow in the affected area—an important step in ensuring proper circulation and recovery.
Gopher Snakes play a vital role in our ecosystem by helping to control rodent populations, but they—like many other wild animals—face threats from plastic pollution. This case highlights the importance of disposing of waste properly to prevent harm to wildlife.
We will continue to monitor this snake’s progress and provide the best possible care until she is ready for release back into the wild.
